Growing as a Skipper – progression routes

7-8pm Wednesday 6th April

Find out about the various progression routes beyond RYA Day Skipper practical – continued development, qualifications and even working commercially as a skipper or instructor. It isn’t all about the tickets, but this webinar will guide you through the options to help you make informed choices as you develop as a skipper. Join Sail Boat Project instructors, former students and Yachtmaster examinees. There will be plenty of space for questions and 1-2-1 follow up after the webinar.

Passage planning: Crossing the Channel

7-8pm, Wednesday 27 April

For the last two years our sailing trips have been solely in UK waters, but as restrictions lift, the opportunity for crossing the Channel to France is re-appearing over the horizon. Cross Channel trips are a great opportunity to tick off a 60nm qualifying passage as skipper for those of you working towards a Yachtmaster examination, as well as an exciting stretch of your sailing skill set. In this webinar we look at the basics and pitfalls of crossing the Channel, encouraging you to think through the elements that need to be planned before and during the passage.

Passage planning: Venturing further offshore

7-8pm, Wednesday 18 May

As we sail out of sight of land for days in a row, crossing Biscay or a passage to the Azores, we really are on our own. Or it could be an extended coastal passage with little or no ports of refuge along the way. Find out what is involved in planning such a trip, some new modern aids to navigation as well as tried and tested techniques to make things run smoothly. Join a skipper and crew onboard, en route from Portugal to the UK, to learn about the different challenges sailing offshore.
