Migrant English Project Summer Sailing Day

We have worked with students and volunteer teachers from the Brighton-based Migrant English Project (MEP) since 2013, taking people out on short sailing trips from Chichester harbour and Brighton marina. The aim has been to offer positive experiences for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, some of the most marginalised members of society. We know that sailing can be a combination of relaxation, enjoyment of the marine environment, exercise, and development of people  group working skills. Yesterday we managed to take out 16 people from MEP on four short trips! A total of 49 folk from MEP came down to Itchenor for the…

Sailing Staycation

Rather than booking a holiday cottage this year, how about booking a sailing staycation? A week on one of our boats with your friends or family? Whether you have experience, qualifications or none, we can offer a skipper to look after the boat and organise a route or simply stock up the boat with a hamper of food and let you take off for a weekend or a full week. If you would like to get more out of your sailing staycation, we can even incorporate a Competent Crew or Day Skipper course. We can offer you one of our boats complete…

May Bank Holiday RYA Competent Crew & RYA Day Skipper courses

Here's a few photos from this weekend's RYA Competent Crew and RYA Day Skipper courses. The five days started without much wind, but we left Chichester with a fair tide up to Cowes and a visit to the River Medina. Day two saw us try out some slow motion sailing manouevres in the central Solent, with the wind picking up enough for us to short tack up the Beaulieu River to Buckler's Hard. Day three saw Day Skipper candidate Gustavo skipper us to Poole. A slow downwind sail down the western Solent turned into close haul tacking through the Needles channel and…

The five day course took them all over the Solent, to the Beaulieu river, a night entrance into the River Hamble, Cowes on the Isle of Wight and into Portsmouth harbour. Find out here how to…
