Sailing in a bubble – skipper charter options
If you’re looking to make up lost time with friends or family we have day sails available from 19th April and overnight trips from 17th May. You will be sailing from our base in Chichester Harbour which is a beautiful AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Your own sailing bubble on a boat allows you to voyage safely, exploring the natural beauty of the sea and coast. From migrating birds, to our local seal colony, you might even spot dolphins on our doorstep. There are opportunities for beachcombing, having lunch at anchor or getting stuck into some sailing skills, a truly low carbon way to travel and holiday. Join us at Itchenor pontoon for 0930 and have a full day until 1700. Your day could be filled with everything the harbour has to offer or, depending on tide, we can cross the bar and adventure into the Solent and Isle of Wight.
July and August £50 additional charge per day
We’ve been using the non-sailing time constructively to give Karic and Jalapeno plenty of TLC with new upholstery, fresh paint and varnish and lots of improvements and look forward to welcoming you onboard. You can see more pictures of our boats here. Please also see the comprehensive Covid Protocols we have been following and continue to update on a regular basis.
“I really enjoyed the day. I learned loads of stuff from Jacquie – an excellent skipper and teacher” – yacht charter customer.
“One of the reasons we’d booked on Karic was the thought of only being two of us and therefore lots more chance to practice, and of course it would be like a superluxury if it was just us” – Karen, yacht charterer
We ask that you have at least three years experience in command of craft of a similar type and size or hold a minimum RYA Coastal Skipper practical qualification. Take your Coastal Skipper course with us and we’ll give you one free weekday on your first weekend charter booking!
We offer a full briefing at the start of each yacht charter to make sure you are comfortable and confident before setting off. We are always a phone call away if you have any concerns or questions. We can arrange for you to have a commercial skipper onboard to help you get used to the boat, for anything upwards of a couple of hours through to a fully skippered trip.
In practice this could mean one of our skippers joining you for your first day out on Karic, helping you pilot and negotiate the often busy waters of Chichester harbour. You could then carry on to Portsmouth, with our skipper letting you get on with it, but being on hand to answer any questions or help with any practicalities, like sail trim or rules of the road. They would be on hand to help you pilot your way into Portsmouth harbour and then leave you at the end of the day. You would then be in charge for the rest of your trip. In future you would then be familiar enough with Karic to do a briefer handover for future charters.
