Assumed knowledge: Competent Crew level and above
Spinnakers aren’t all about racing, they’re an important part of our sail set when the wind drops enough to deal a blow to our passage plan. Keeping up a good speed over ground can keep a boat and crew happy and being comfortable and familiar with using a spinnaker is key. This session will look at:
* How to pack a spinnaker sail ready for use
* How to rig it
* How to trim it once you’ve got it set
* General tips for downwind sailing to keep your nerves from fraying
* How to drop the sail smartly
As it won’t be possible to sail downwind for the whole two days a sensible plan will be made to maximise use of the spinnaker.
