5 day Solent sailing trip
July 6 @ 9:30 am - July 10 @ 5:00 pm
Skipper Karen Luyckx describes this five day trip as “pottering in the Solent trip, where we can visit anchorages and places depending on what the participants would like and on where the weather takes us”. The trip will take place onboard our 10m ketch Karic – her 1.8m draft makes her ideal for exploring Solent harbours. Starting from Itchenor reach in beautiful Chichester harbour, high water is mid afternoon, meaning a fair tide westwards through the Solent until the early evening. There are many peaceful anchorages to explore during the trip, whether overnight or for a spot of lunch. Follow the lollipop transit into Newton Creek on the Isle of Wight! This used to be a thriving port, sacked by Vikings, but is now a tranquil bird sanctuary. Or explore Beaulieu River as it winds into the New Forest and see where Nelson’s warships were built at Buckler’s Hard.
